Guitar Course for Busy Adults

Hi Everyone,

We’re very close to finishing our long-awaiting guitar course for adults.

We’ve been putting this course together for the last six months, but we are close to wrapping it up. We will be releasing it in early January.

This course will entirely focus on teaching busy adults how to play the guitar as quickly and efficiently as possible. It will include live weekly lessons, a printable manual, and play-along tracks.

We’re going to cover everything you need to know to rock on the guitar, from scales and chords to classic riffs and campfire songs.

Simply put, if I needed to rock on the guitar in just under eight weeks, I had never played guitar before and had a pretty full life – this is what I would do!

However, we need your help. Before we finalize everything and launch the course, we need to make sure we cover everything.

That is where you come in. Please take a few minutes to answer this super-short survey—there.

First, what’s your #1 challenge you have around learning to play guitar?

Second, what’s the BIGGEST goal you have for your guitar playing?

Muscle memory on my fretting hand. Which requires practice and I’m a terrible student when it comes to practice. I have some background in music so the concepts are not entirely foreign. It’s all about the practice and memorization.

Biggest goal would be to become somewhat proficient at both electric, acoustic guitars as well as bass.

Practice is one of the biggest challenges for students of all ages, including adults! That’s why building momentum should be your first goal when it comes to playing the guitar. The best way to build momentum is to start small. How about 5 minutes per day of practice? Great! Set a goal to practice for five minutes every day. What you practice is irrelevant at this point. The only goal is to build momentum. If you can hit 5 minutes a day, every day for one week, try to bump it up to 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat for four weeks, and you’ve built the practice habit. By that time, you are comfortably practicing for 20 – 30 minutes per day, which is excellent! From there, you can begin optimizing your practice, but that’s an entirely different conversation. Thanks so much for sharing, Jay!

My biggest challenge is basics: how to find my fingering without destroying my hands, my posture. And how to and tune my guitar reliably.
Main goal is to be able to play songs to sing with my kids campfire style as well as learns. Little classical guitar for relaxation, and to bring a quieter instrument into my life than the flute, which I played forever and was very accomplished at.

    Challenge: Time!
Goal: I’ve always wanted to learn the basics of the guitar so that I could accompany singing around a campfire.
