I know because I made that mistake myself, and I want to save you the agony of going through it. Best of all, you are going to learn how to play “Happy Birthday” on the guitar on one string, so it’s perfect for beginning guitarists of all ages.
And if you stick around to the end of the video, I have a free bonus for you.
The Historical Significance of “Happy Birthday”
According to the Guinness World’s Records, “Happy Birthday” is the most recognized song in the English language. Moreover, the song has been translated into at least 18 different languages. The melody to “Happy Birthday” comes from the tune “Good Morning to All” written by a pair of American sisters by the name of Patty and Mildred Hill in 1893.
Patty was a kindergarten principal, and her sister, Mildred, was a pianist and composer. Together, they composed the tune “Good Morning to All” as a song children could easily sing.
“Happy Birthday” is Super Easy to Play
The good news is that “Happy Birthday” is so easy, you can learn to play in under five minutes or less even if you never played guitar before! Best of all, you can play it one string using just one finger. How cool is that?!
Although I think it sounds best on the low E string, you can play it on any string after this lesson, which is important because you can find the string that works best for your voice.
